Travel to Vietnam
I have plenty of questions about traveling in and around Laos, and I can’t find the answers to them. When I had enquired at a travel agent’s office in Hanoi, but it turned out that trips from Laos to Vietnam are the new thing in the tourist industry in this area and starting to be more and more popular.
So I asked some questions about some people who know the area. Their answers? They’ve been there, done that, got the pictures! It is kind of hard to find many Laos-Vietnam holidays these days, but if you look carefully, you can find a good one. With the amount of hassle to travel to this part of the world, you will end up having a holiday of your life.
The best way to travel from Laos to Vietnam is by air.
You can also use a minivan or train. An excellent motorway connects Phong Nha to Hanoi and Da Nang. You will be able to travel along the road without trouble, and then you can rent a car and drive off. This is one of the most beautiful and most reasonably priced hotels in Vietnam and will probably even have wi-fi.
You may not be able to do that if you are driving a rented car. I will never understand how renting a car and having to drive it from one place to another can be cheaper than leaving it with a hotel, and perhaps having to pay a driver to drive you to your final destination.
The coaching system may be useful for such journeys, and some companies will put you in touch with the driver that will take you to your holiday spot in Vietnam, but you still have to hire a vehicle for it to be practical. And I can understand the demand to be driven in the high mountains but not to come down from the hills.
